Atkinson Tankmaster Service Kit
This kit will enable you to give your Tankmaster valve a minor service, you can replace the sight tube to enable better visual of the fuel level. You can also replace the filter element on the valve to ensure cleaner fuel is delivered to your boiler.
The issue around sight gauges is that they eventually become cloudy due to bacterial growth caused by UV light. You can use the sight shield on your sight gauge to protect the viewable area of the gauge by sliding it around to cover the face of the tube that you would normally look at and move it out of the way when you want to take a reading, doing this will increase the longevity of the sight gauge tubing before you need to replace it again.
The sight gauge is simple to replace, push it out of the sight shield and pour some hot water on the bottom of the tube where it attaches to the valve, this will allow the soft plastic to expand slightly to enable you to remove it. Similarly with the new tube heat it up in a small pot of hot water then push it over the spigot on the valve, allow this to cool down before activating the valve as while its still warm it my leak. Once you have installed the tube at the bottom, push it back into the sight shield and cut at 45 degrees and pop the top cap back on. The reason you cut it at 45 degrees is to allow it to breathe but to not allow bugs and insects to crawl into the tubing. These will then sink in the oil to the bottom of the tube and potentially block up the valve.
