Description
WATER SOAKING OIL TANK SPONGE
The Oil Tank Sponge is weighted so that it lays flat on the bottom of your tank. Containing super absorbent polymers which soaks up any water but is impervious to fuel.
When the tank sponge is full it can be removed and replaced.
Removing the water in your tank will help maintain the quality of your fuel and enable your system to run cleaner and more efficiently, giving you the peace of mind that your fuel will work to its maximum capability.
Water build up or condensation naturally happens in all fuel storage tanks (especially metal ones) because of the constant atmospheric temperature changes. Water contamination then settles at the bottom of the tank.
If there is water present in fuel (Kerosene or Gas Oil) a number of problems can occur:
1) Water can enter the heating system instead of the fuel and cause damage to the burner or boiler.
2) Water can increase the growth of bacteria and as a result promote tank sludge.
3) The presence of water will rapidly increase rusting of a metal tank and metal components in the heating system.
4) Water can freeze in the tank which can then cause the fuel to degrade
Condensation occurs in most Heating Oil and Red Diesel tanks which can not only contaminate the fuel, but causes rust to develop, unseen, in the bottom of steel tanks.

Unwind the retrieval cord and drop the soaker into the tank while holding on to it, leave the cord in a position where it is safe from dropping into the tank, use this cord to pull the soaker out of the tank 48 hours later. Disposed of the used soaker in the correct manner, usually into the oily waste products skip at a local recycling centre.
Designed to fit through your tanks inspection hatch, soaker outside diameter is 3″ so will not fit through a vent or fill point, please drop into the tank through the larger inspection hatch, this will also make it easier to retrieve.

Quality, well made product….. won’t know how well it’s worked until I remove it, so could be a while to collect a litre of water…. but from other reviews I’m confident it will do the job…

It’s a good simple idea. It removed some but not all of the water in two days. I hadn’t calculated the volume of water present, so I can’t blame the product.
